Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
The short version. LinkScrub runs entirely inside your browser. It has no server, no account system and no analytics. We do not collect, store, sell or share the links you copy, your browsing history or any personal data.
1. Who we are
LinkScrub (“we”, “us”) provides a free Chrome extension that removes tracking parameters from links you copy. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with information, and applies to both the extension and the website at getlinkscrub.com.
2. Information we collect
We do not collect personal data. Specifically, the extension does not collect or transmit:
- the links you copy, visit or share;
- your browsing history or the content of pages;
- your name, email address or any account identifiers — there are no accounts;
- IP addresses, device identifiers or advertising identifiers;
- analytics, telemetry or usage statistics of any kind.
3. How the extension handles links
When you copy a link, the extension compares its query parameters against a list of known tracking parameters that ships inside the extension itself. The comparison happens locally, in your browser, in memory. The link is not stored, not logged and not sent anywhere — neither to us nor to any third party. Once the cleaned link is on your clipboard, nothing remains.
4. Clipboard access
The extension reads and rewrites a copied link only at the moment you perform a copy action. It does not monitor your clipboard in the background, does not read clipboard content placed there by other applications, and keeps no history of what was copied.
5. Local settings
Your keep list — the sites whose parameters you asked the extension to leave alone — and any pause settings are saved in your browser's local extension storage so they survive a restart. They stay on your device. You can erase them at any time by removing the extension or clearing its storage through Chrome's extension settings.
6. Permissions we request
Chrome requires an extension to declare the permissions it needs. LinkScrub requests clipboard and page access solely in order to detect a copied link and replace it with a cleaned version. It does not use that access for any other purpose.
7. Third parties
The extension contains no third-party trackers, advertising SDKs or analytics libraries. We do not sell or share data with anyone, because we do not hold any. Note that the Chrome Web Store, operated by Google, processes installation and review data under its own policies when you install the extension.
8. This website
getlinkscrub.com is a static website. It sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, whose servers may log a standard request when your browser fetches them. Our hosting provider may keep basic server logs for security and reliability, in line with normal industry practice.
9. Children
LinkScrub is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. As no information is collected from anyone, this is a matter of policy rather than of data handling.
10. Your rights
Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase. Removing the extension removes everything it kept on your device.
11. Changes to this policy
If the extension's behaviour ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and revise the date above. Continued use of the extension after an update means you accept the revised policy.
